Nursing Assistant Training (NAT) and Home Health Aide (HHA)

    Classroom, Lab & Clinical "hands-on"
                        training!

Our mission is to prepare nursing assistants that have the skills to work in healthcare agencies and/or the home environment.  Our program is client centered and focuses on teaching students how to meet the needs of the client in a long term care agency, a hospital or in the community. We believe that it is the right of every client to receive quality nursing assistant/Home Health Aide care from trained personnel. We prepare our students through planned classroom theory, lab instruction and experience in the hospital/long term care facility to give care in a holistic and professional manner.

C&S Healthcare Training and Staffing focuses on basic nursing assistant/Home Health Aide skills which include all elements of safety measures, personal care, vital sign measurement, communication, infection control, nutrition and resident's rights. Our curriculum has a special focus on the geriatric client and the client with Alzheimers Disease or related dementias.

Upon graduation from the Nursing Assistant Program, the student is eligible to sit for the Nursing Assistant Certification Exam. Graduates from the Nursing Assistant Program will also receive a Home Health Aide Certificate, which will allow the student to provide care in the community. Learning experiences at C&S Healthcare Training and Staffing will be a step toward continual growth and development of the total person and will stimulate a desire for lifelong learning!

DAY/Evening SESSION- 114 hours

Nursing Assistant (NA) is six weeks, 114-hour program which combines classroom hours, lab hours and clinical hours. After the fourth week, students attend an additional 16 hours of Home Health Aide training. Students are in the classroom and/or the lab every day for the first part of the program. Morning classroom hours are 9:00 am to 1:30pm and Evening classroom hours 5pm to 9:30pm four days a week.

Ultimate Test Prep-

To be a Certified Nursing Assistant, the students will need to take the state Examination which is divided into two sections, the Knowledge (written) examination and a clinical skills test. Students must successfully pass both sections to earn the CNA certification. In most areas the student must pass the Knowledge with a 75% or higher. In most areas the student also must pass the clinical skill portion with an 80% or better, and also demonstrate that s/he can follow each critical step with 100% accuracy.

The written examination will be given in a multiple-choice format similar to tests the students have taken in the class. The clinical skills portion is broken down into “checkpoints” or skills that are performed in front of a skills evaluator. The student’s demonstration of the skills does not have to be perfect, but they must show the portion of the step that is considered critical, which usually involves personal or patient safety or infection control. They will be allowed to correct themselves if they miss a step during a particular skill until they have proceeded to the next one.

State Exam Preparation

After the six weeks of completion CSHCTS continued to provide additional assistance free of charge to make sure they are well prepared for the state exam; CSHCTS provides a set of study guides and quizzes to prepare the students for the knowledge portion; there are instructors on board more than 90% of the times to monitor the students during their preparation weeks for the state exam and the students are allowed to come in the school after graduation to use the lab at their convenience for free
